Storm Boris has caused a lot of damage in Italy and Hungary has been badly hit as well. Europe has announced aid of 10 billion euros for the affected countries.

In Budapest, Hungary, the Parliament has its feet in the water. On Thursday, September 19, the Danube almost reached 8 meters, its highest level since 2013. In one week, the scars of storm Boris are still marking central Europe. In the Czech Republic, houses have been destroyed by strong winds in the north of the country and floods. More than 400 people are still in shelters and the inhabitants are still in shock.

“We woke up around 7am. When we looked out the window, we saw waves that we hadn’t seen the day before and forty-five minutes later, the water had risen a lot. We had to run with the children to go to the neighbors who live further up.”says Mirka Ivanicova. Faced with the situation, the President of the European Commission went there and announced exceptional aid of 10 billion euros for the disaster-stricken countries.
