FLO installs its 100th charging station in New York

The electric vehicle charging company, FLO, has announced the installation of its 100th charging station in New York City in the United States, as part of a pilot project which began in June 2021.

FLO now has a network of charging stations in five New York boroughs.

“New Yorkers are setting an example for cities across the country through their commitment to electrifying their city,” said Louis Tremblay, president and CEO of FLO, in a statement Tuesday.

“FLO is proud to be a partner in New York’s transition to a cleaner future by providing on-street charging solutions to city residents,” he added.

The New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

The City also estimates that by the end of the next decade, it will need more than 40,000 level 2 charging stations accessible to the public to meet the forecast demand for the approximately 400,000 electric vehicles that should be circulating on his territory.

“The adoption of electric vehicles is an important part of this administration’s efforts to reduce transportation-related emissions and protect the environment for future generations,” said NYC DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez.

The commissioning of this new terminal was done in partnership with the New York City Department of Transportation and Consolidated Edison (Con Edison), FLO said in a statement.
