Flight delays at Montreal airport and major airports across the country appear to have partially eased earlier this week, data from real-time flight census site FlightAware shows.

On Sunday, the specialized site reported 259 delays at Montreal-Trudeau airport. Monday, he counted 154 in the afternoon.
Cancellations increased, however, from 14 to 31 during the same period.
“Some improvements continue to be noted, particularly in terms of waiting times at security checks, flight cancellations and delays and baggage delivery,” confirmed the Aéroports de Montréal media relations department ( AMD). Twice as many flights as last summer
Aviation activity is indeed on the rise. On July 17, Montreal-Trudeau airport had 561 departures and arrivals, compared to 276 in 2021, according to FlightAware data. On the same date in 2020, around the second pandemic wave, the number of departures and arrivals in Montreal had dropped to 198.
The summer period, so far, has been difficult for Montreal-Trudeau airport, which notably experienced a computer failure that caused huge delays at the beginning of July.
ADM’s president and CEO, Philippe Rainville, said in an interview towards the end of June that ADM was going to abandon certain destinations in order to ease the pressure during the morning and evening peaks.
Similar elsewhere in Canada
There is also a decrease in the number of delays on the side of Pearson airport in Toronto, where FlightAware identified 404 Monday afternoon, compared to 579 Sunday.
Cancellations also increased in Toronto, from 29 to 59 from Sunday to Monday.
At Vancouver International Airport, delays have been reduced by nearly half. FlightAware noted 299 delays on Sunday, then 149 on Monday.
Cancellations decreased slightly during this period, ie 12 for the day of Sunday and 9 for Monday.
During the same period, Calgary International Airport also experienced a significant drop in delays and cancellations. FlightAware had 207 delays and 16 cancellations on Sunday, compared to 111 delays and 7 cancellations on Monday.
