A 100% Parisian final. FC Fleury 91 created a surprise by eliminating Olympique Lyonnais, defending champion, from the French Women’s Cup, after a success on penalties (0-0, 4-5 tab) on Saturday March 9. THE Floriacumoises thus offering themselves their first final in the competition, where they will inevitably cross paths with a team from the Paris region, since the other semi-final will be played on Sunday March 10 at 3 p.m. between Paris FC and Paris Saint- Germain.
A historic feat, since it is only the second time since 2012 that a Coupe de France final will be contested without Olympique Lyonnais, the most successful club with 10 trophies on the clock. In a remake of the 2023 semi-final (won 2-0 by OL), Sonia Bompastor’s players – leaders of D1 – this time did not manage to escape Fleury’s low block pressure. The Lyonnaises were too messy throughout the match, and not efficient enough.
The match ended with a penalty shootout where Griedge Mbock, captain and first shooter on the Lyon side, completely missed his shot. Fleury goalkeeper, Chloé N’Gazi, author of a large part, then stopped the attempts of Eugénie Le Sommer, then of Delphine Cascarino at the very end of the session, to offer her teammates a ticket for the final, Saturday May 4 at the Mosson stadium in Montpellier.
