The Justin-Lefebvre Foundation celebrated its fifth anniversary with its annual golf tournament, which was held on Friday to highlight the memory of the young boy who left far too soon and to remind us of the importance of organ donation.
For the occasion, 150 golfers took part in the tournament.
Justin Lefebvre died in 2017 at the age of eight. During an evening party, the young boy drowned after holding his breath underwater.
His resilient parents launched the foundation in his honor a few months later.
The organization’s mission is to raise awareness in the community about organ donation, in addition to supporting children from low-income families so that they can participate in sports activities.
To date, $250,000 has been raised and more than 1,000 children in Estrie have received sports equipment or had their registration fees paid.
This fifth anniversary of the foundation has a special meaning for the parents of Justin Lefebvre. The number five was the lucky number of the young boy, he who wore this number on his hockey jersey.
Benoit Lefebvre and Marie-Pier Savaria, the parents of young Justin, intend to pursue their mission by creating a research chair of one million dollars in organ donation. Through organ donation, Justin has saved four lives.
