Concern is growing about bedbugs. After public transport, schools are now affected. Five sites had to close their doors on Friday October 6.

No access to classrooms, some quarantines, and teachers and students who refuse to return to their Ile-de-France high school. Bedbugs were detected there on Thursday October 5. These teachers say they are ready to sacrifice a day’s salary, and the students to have unjustified absences. Cases are increasing in Brittany, Doubs and even Alsace.

Each case managed at the local level

The Ministry of National Education has five contaminated establishments, and as many officially closed. This is the case of a college in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), empty for four days. A reassuring measure for parents. But this closure is not systematic, because each case is managed at the local level. There should be national support, according to some, including Grégoire Enselpresident of the Federation of Parents’ Councils (FCPE). An interministerial meeting is taking place on Friday to propose solutions to the scourge of bedbugs.
