Five people, suspected of having imported 2.5 tonnes of cannabis, were indicted on Sunday May 14 and placed in pre-trial detention, learned franceinfo, from a judicial source, confirming information from the newspaper Le Parisien / Today in France . The five individuals are indicted for “importing narcotics in an organized gang”, “acquisition, possession, transport, offer or sale of narcotics” and “participation in a criminal association with a view to the preparation of crimes or offenses punishable ten years’ imprisonment.
The file is now followed by the specialized interregional jurisdiction (Jirs) of Paris which has opened a judicial investigation. An investigation started last April

The police suspected him of warning the duo of the imminent arrival of the cannabis resin so that they could deliver it to the department. A preliminary investigation was then opened by the Versailles prosecutor’s office for drug trafficking. The police set up a surveillance device in front of his home and on the night of May 9 to 10, on the basis of this surveillance, they estimated that a new arrival of drugs was in progress. The police thus shadowed him from his home to Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis) where he took the wheel of a utility truck, before going the opposite way to Les Mureaux. A few hours later, this same man, still tailed by the police, went with the utility to a warehouse in Les Mureaux.
The police believe that it was in this warehouse that the drugs were loaded into the utility truck, his two accomplices arrived at that time by car. It was then that the truck driven by Mounir Z. left the warehouse, escorted by Liesse O. and Youssef L. by car. The police who were still tracking the trio saw bags in the truck that looked like “Moroccan suitcases” – rectangular drug bundles wrapped by hand. They then proceeded to arrest the three men and discovered the 2.5 tonnes of cannabis resin in the van.
