Five construction workers who were working at the start of the day on Wednesday on a site in Trois-Rivières were injured when a scaffolding collapsed on them.
Around 9:30 a.m., Sergeant Luc Mongrain, of the Trois-Rivières Police Department, affirmed that the medical authorities at the hospital where the five unfortunate people were transported no longer feared for their lives. However, the seriousness of their injuries was not known.
An emergency call was sent around 8 a.m. to report the collapse that occurred on the construction site of a residence for the elderly located near the intersection of Notre-Dame and Fusey streets, in the Cap-de sector. -Madeleine.
When they arrived on the scene, the police and firefighters who were called to intervene found that part of the structure had fallen and that the workers were trapped. They were all transported to hospital.
At around 9:30 a.m., no hypothesis had yet been put forward to explain what had caused the collapse.
Investigators and forensic identification technicians from the Trois-Rivières Police Department were on the scene. Colleagues from the Commission for Standards, Equity, Health and Safety at Work (CNESST) were in turn to begin examining the scene later on Wednesday.
