Last stage before the high mountain. Before taking on the Galibier and the Croix de Fer on Saturday, the peloton has four difficulties to overcome, Friday May 10, for the sixth stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné between Rives (Isère) and Gap (Hautes-Alpes). Two second category passes (Rousset and Cabre) are on the program to sort out the remaining 147 runners.

The breakaways will have to try to take off in a stage built for the fighters, in order to avoid a return of the peloton like Thursday. The Jumbo-Visma for Wout van Aert, and the Ineos Grenadier, for Ethan Hayter, could try to drive hard in the final to place their candidates for the stage victory. The men in yellow and black will also have to watch the breakaway if it goes to the end so as not to knock the golden tunic off the Belgian’s shoulders.

The small unlisted bump (3.2 kilometers at 2.8% with the last 600 meters at 5.2%) at five kilometers could also make the difference in determining who will raise their arms in Gap.
