five departments of the South-West placed in orange vigilance to storms

Météo France places five departments on orange vigilance for thunderstorms, Monday August 29, while 65 departments are on yellow vigilance, as well as the principality of Andorra. The departments concerned by this orange thunderstorm alert, scheduled until around 10 p.m., arein Haute-Garonne, Gers, Hautes-Pyrénées, Tarn and Tarn-et-Garonne.

The organization evokes a “stormy episode not exceptional for the season but requiring particular vigilance because it can locally generate violent phenomena (gusts, hail)”. Météo France warns that thunderstorms “locally strong” were already falling on the Hautes-Pyrénées and the Gers, late Monday afternoon.

“The stormy system crosses the Gers and the Hautes-Pyrénées at the end of the afternoon, then quickly reaches the Tarn-et-Garonne and the Haute-Garonne, before reaching the Tarn around 8 p.m. Gusts of the order of 100 to 110 km / h are possible locally, as well as hailstorms”, continues this same source.
