Water threatens the southern and northern ends of France. On Sunday January 9, Météo France placed five departments in southwestern France on orange “rain-flood” vigilance. These are Ariège, Haute-Garonne, Pyrénées-Atlantiques and Hautes-Pyrénées. At the other end of France, the North is still on “flood” and “flood” orange vigilance.

A pluvio-snowy episode is underway in the Pyrenean departments, with weak to moderate activity at first, specifies Météo France. The rains are expected to become more sustained in the evening and overnight from Sunday to Monday. This strengthening is accompanied by significant warmth in the Pyrenees, the rains then replacing the snow in the mountains. The episode should continue like this until Monday afternoon and end Tuesday during the day. Accumulated precipitation could reach 250 mm locally in the mountains.

A “raw” orange vigilance was launched in parallel to this alert in the Nord department for Helpe Minor.
