Five days after the earthquake that shook Japan and left 128 dead, a 90-year-old woman was found under the rubble. A story that is nothing short of a miracle.
In the dead of night, a specialized medical unit was urgently called. In the rubble in Japan, rescuers have just seen a sign of life. The race against time begins. Under a pile of boards lies a 90-year-old woman. She is extracted from the rubble, with infinite caution, stunned but alive.
200 people still missing
A miracle for Japanese rescuers: beyond the first 72 hours following a disaster, the chances of finding survivors are tiny. “Firefighters, police officers, doctors, everyone was really working hard. Everyone told her ‘just a little longer, hold on ma’am, it’ll be fine!’ It really moved me a lot“, confides a doctor from the specialized medical unit. According to Japanese authorities, nearly 200 victims of the earthquake are still missing.
