At least five civilians were killed on Friday in a Ukrainian strike that hit a bus in the southern region of Kherson, where Kyiv forces are on the offensive, a pro-Russian official said.

“Ukrainian armed forces fighters fired on a bus carrying civilians on the Darievsky bridge (…) they were on their way to work,” Russian occupation official Kirill Stremooussov said on Telegram, adding that he There were at least five dead and five injured.
He broadcast the video of a blue bus ripped open on all sides and another damaged vehicle in a queue of cars.
“Ambulance crews quickly arrived at the scene and provided emergency medical assistance to the victims,” he added.
Ukrainian forces have been carrying out a counter-offensive for weeks in this region, which has been controlled by Moscow forces since the first weeks of the war.
Kyiv has targeted bridges in this region on multiple occasions in order to disrupt the logistical supply of Russian forces.
The Kherson region is one of the four regions of Ukraine which Moscow has claimed for annexation after “referendums” denounced by the UN, Kyiv and its Western allies.
