Five Cardinals players deserve Golden Gloves

(St. Louis) A record five players from the St. Louis Cardinals won the Golden Glove in the Nationale on Sunday.



First baseman Paul Goldschmidt, second cushion Tommy Edman, third baseman Nolan Arenado, center fielder Harrison Bader and left fielder Tyler O’Neill received the honor.

Arenado won the Golden Glove for the ninth time in his career and the first time since being traded to the Colorado Rockies last winter. Goldschmidt received this distinction for the fourth time while for the second year in a row, O’Neill got his hands on this trophy.

Chicago White Sox pitcher Dallas Keuchel, for a fifth opportunity, and San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Belt, for the fourth time, won the Golden Glove.

Atlanta Braves pitcher Max Fried, who won the World Series this week, and teammate Adam Duvall, who plays on the right, were also decorated in the National, as was Pittsburgh Pirates wide receiver Jacob Stallings.

Houston Astros first baseman Yuli Gurriel received the honor, which will go with her American batting championship. His teammate Carlos Correa won the Golden Glove as a shortstop.

The vote is taken with the managers of major league baseball and a maximum of six coaches from each team. They cannot vote for players in their organization.
