Five Canadiens home games postponed by NHL due to pandemic

The NHL has postponed five home games for the Montreal Canadiens scheduled for January due to measures related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Canadiens’ next game at the Bell Center is now scheduled for January 15 against the New Jersey Devils.

This decision was made under restrictions on the number of eligible spectators at the Bell Center. The Canadiens’ last home game was played behind closed doors on December 16 against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Since December 21, the presentation of indoor public events has been suspended in Quebec and the Habs’ home games would likely have been played in front of empty stands if they had been presented on the scheduled dates.

Home games of the Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames and Winnipeg Jets scheduled for the coming weeks have also been postponed for similar reasons.

A spokesperson for the Canadiens told The Canadian Press that away games may be added to the team’s schedule during the period cleared by the postponement of home games.

These five meetings have been postponed.

The Habs will instead visit the Bruins on January 12. He will play the next day against the Blackhawks in Chicago.

After the January 15 game at the Bell Center against the Devils, the Canadian will play his next five games in Phoenix, Dallas, Las Vegas, Denver and St. Paul, respectively against the Coyotes, Stars, Golden Knights, Avalanche and the Wild.
