The investigations were entrusted to the Versailles judicial police service. The lifeless bodies of five people were discovered in an apartment in Meaux (Seine-et-Marne), Monday December 25 in the evening. An investigation into intentional homicide has been opened, Meaux prosecutor Jean-Baptiste Bladier confirmed to AFP on the night of Monday to Tuesday.
According to the Actu 17 site which revealed the information, the victims are “a woman and her four young children” and the police are looking for the 33-year-old father, “on the run”. The Meaux prosecutor will hold a press briefing on Tuesday during the day, to provide an initial update on the known elements of the investigation.
The discovery of these five bodies echoes other recent tragedies. At the end of November, a 41-year-old man went to a police station to confess to the murder of his three daughters aged 4 to 11 in Alfortville (Val-de-Marne). He notably mentioned a conflict context with his ex-partner regarding child custody. A month earlier, in October, a gendarme had killed his three daughters before killing himself at his home in Vémars in Val-d’Oise. The facts also took place “in a complicated family context” according to the Pontoise public prosecutor’s office.
