Five associations are filing a complaint against the RATP for “direct provocation of alcohol consumption against minors”. They believe that advertisements for alcoholic drinks are too encouraging and endanger the health of young people, France Inter reported Thursday June 6.
The associations are as follows: The League against Cancer, Unaf, the Federation of Friends of Health, Entraid’addict and France Assos santé. “In the corridors of the metro sometimes there are five or six posters four to five meters wide, large advertising panels, encouraging consumption,” explains Claude Rambaud, vice-president of the France Assos santé patient association.
According to Claude Rambaud, these posters show “the alcohol that is festive” and highlight “an extremely positive image of alcohol”. “The problemshe continues, This is because they are located on youth crossings, near schools, colleges and high schools.
“Advertising towards young people plays a very important role in alcohol consumption in adulthood.”

The associations are now awaiting action “so that there is a limitation on advertising accessible to young people, so that children are not encouraged to take alcohol as if it were mineral water”. The associations point out that 41,000 deaths per year are linked to alcohol. Their previous complaint filed last winter against the RATP was dismissed.
