Fitzgibbon’s suspense | Le Devoir

Pierre Fitzgibbon is the best Minister of the Economy that Quebec has had in a long time. I admire his sense of initiative and the determination with which he leads his files. But his habit of maintaining doubts about his early departure, or not, is annoying. This behavior is unworthy of the very important responsibilities that he assumes as a super minister and as an MNA. Yesterday, he proudly announced to us that he was preparing his successor, while he is halfway through his term, as if he needed to be congratulated. For what reason would he leave early? Because he will soon be 70 years old, he has just discovered. You should have seen his satisfied smile when he was questioned, in a press scrum, about his possible departure. What great importance this suspense gives him! I suggest that Premier Legault remind his minister who is boss by ordering him to plug himself publicly within a week: either he leaves soon or he ends his term. Mr. Legault has nothing to fear, except knowing his minister’s decision sooner rather than later and enhancing his stature as Prime Minister.
