French fishermen feel cheated in the dispute between them and the British for obtaining fishing licenses. They claim that France has given up. For his part, the President of the Republic targets the VSeuropean commission.

Thursday, November 18, in the morning, the Minister of the Sea, Annick Girardin, caused trouble in the whole profession. She proposed a plan for exiting the fleet, that is to say compensation for fishermen who lose their license, on condition that their boat is destroyed. Uproposal assumed and confirmed Friday, November 19, in the evening.

The minister’s statements were interpreted as a capitulation for the fishermen. This morning, on the port of Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine), an unlicensed boat has been docked for weeks. The announcements of the day before were experienced like a hammer blow by the whole crew. To date, 161 boats have obtained the precious sesame, but France is still asking for 150 licenses from Great Britain. Faced with this blockage, the president of the Ille-et-Vilaine fishing committee evokes possible punches in the coming weeks.
