With just 48 seconds left in the third period, David Pastrnak had given his team a one-goal lead with his devastating wrist shot. The Bruins seemed to be heading for a 17th road victory this season… but Aleksander Barkov had not said his last word.

The hosts’ captain jumped on a rebound to force an extra period with just three seconds remaining on the clock.

Sam Reinhart then played the heroes after 17 seconds of play in overtime. His powerful one-timer shook the strings with such speed that officials initially thought the puck hadn’t penetrated Jeremy Swayman’s cage.

The Bruins have lost two straight games, after losing to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday for the first time this season.

Sam Bennett and Brandon Montour also contributed to the war effort for the Florida team.

Bruce Cassidy’s squad took the lead three times in the game before losing. Craig Smith and Charlie Coyle pierced Alex Lyon’s armor.
