The scrum half of the XV of France started and scored in the Blues’ third match against Australia on Saturday during the Vancouver Tournament.

After seven minutes of playing time on Friday for his debut with the French rugby sevens team at the Vancouver Tournament, Antoine Dupont started on Saturday, February 24, for France’s third and final group match against ‘Australia. Logically discreet during the two victories of the Blues against the United States (24-12) and Samoa (40-7), the Toulouse player this time had more time to express himself in a large victory (31-5).

Facing the number 3 seed, the Stade Toulouse player initially started discreetly in a defensive start to the match. But it didn’t take long for him to be decisive. Rayan Rebbadj’s first try came from a jump pass from the scrum half to Aaron Grandidier on the right wing.

At the break, France led 12-0 against the already overwhelmed Australians, and Antoine Dupont took the opportunity to score his first try with the “Seven.” After an introduction into scrum, the “Minister of the Interior” recovered the ball, before fixing a defender with a pass fake and finally running for the try.

Exited before the end of the match, the Stade Toulouse player even ventured to the interview in English at the exit, without needing the translator present. “I’m very happy to be part of this team. It was a very exciting, very fast match. We try to do our best throughout the weekend. We’re used to having great atmospheres at XV , so we try not to be distracted by this festive atmosphere of 7” rugby, he explained. Undefeated, France finishes at the top of its group, and will play its quarter-final against Ireland at 4:28.

The French also received three out of three

A little earlier, the French had also gleaned a third victory in as many matches. After two master’s victories 26 to 14 against Canada, then 19 to 7 against Spain, the Blues made short work of the English, beaten 31-10. After a long jump pass on the left wing, Séraphine Okemba went straight along the touchline to launch the Tricolores.

Ideal start to the match for the French Seven in this 3rd group match against Great Britain with a quick try scored thanks to the speed of Séraphine Okemba on the left wing, unplayable for the British defense. The Blues lead 7-0 thanks to Caroline Drouin's transformation. -

In control throughout the match despite a late reduction in the British score by Jade Shekells, the French ensured their qualification in the quarter-finals with a try from the best French director Anne-Cécile Ciofani, who had just entered the game. France will play its place in the last four against Brazil, on the night of Saturday to Sunday (1h39).
