Barely appointed, Gabriel Attal made his first trip with his new cap as Minister of National Education. A trip to the Yvelines department, in a town where a school was seriously affected by the riots at the end of June.
Appointed Thursday, July 20 Minister of National Education, Gabriel Attal was already on the ground, Friday, July 21. For his first trip, the Minister chose a symbolic place: the renovation site of a school, destroyed during the urban riots on the night of June 28 to 29, in La Verrière (Yvelines). That evening, the school is on fire after the jet by about thirty hooded individuals of molotov cocktails. In this town of 6,000 inhabitants, the students are in shock.
More than 200 schools affected by the riots
For the new minister, the riots must question respect for authority, a theme that Gabriel Attal wants to put back at the heart of the school. Gabriel Attal estimates at more than 200 the number of schools damaged by the riots, triggered by the death of the young Nahel on June 27, including a dozen have been completely destroyed.
