We already knew for a few weeks that EDF intended to load nuclear fuel into the EPR reactor in the 2nd quarter of 2023. A decision confirmed a few days ago on the France Info antenna by the CEO of the group, Jean-Bernard Lévy. But this Thursday morning, on the occasion of the Flamanville CLI (local information commission), EPR Completion Manager David Le Hir has gone a step further a indicating that “what is expected is the supply of the first kilowatt of Flamanville 3 in 2023”.
In addition, the site manager denied the assertions made on Tuesday by the Commission for Independent Research and Information on Radioactivity (CRIIRAD). According to this anti-nuclear association, EDF would get rid of the fuel intended for the EPR arriving in 2021 in Flamanville, i.e. 250 million euros, to replace them with others, reinforced to avoid the problems encountered in Taishan. “The assemblies that are currently stored on Flamanville will be used on Flamanville“assured David Le Hir.
