First intermission | Canadian 0 – Sabers 0

The Montreal Canadiens visit the Buffalo Sabers at KeyBank Center this Saturday, December 9.

(Buffalo) The Montreal Canadiens were trying to start a streak of two games in two days on a good note when they were in Buffalo to face the Sabers on Saturday evening. After 20 minutes of play, the score remained goalless at 0-0.

After giving Samuel Montembeault two starts in a row this week, head coach Martin St-Louis got the goalie carousel back in motion by sending Cayden Primeau in front of the net.

Primeau was starting his sixth game this season and was tested on 17 shots in the first period. He stood out in particular with well-executed moves to make saves at the expense of Casey Mittelstadt and Jeff Skinner, both located to the left of the goalkeeper.

The goalie received a penalty for tripping at the end of the period, but he redeemed himself by blocking a shot from Kyle Okposo, alone in front of him during the power play.

At the other end of the ice, Quebecer Devon Levi repelled the seven pucks aimed at him. His teammates were unable to score on three occasions on the power play, including a 35-second sequence with two extra men.

Joel Armia returned to the lineup, to the detriment of Michael Pezzetta, sent to the press box.
