The candidate, whose official slogan is “Impossible is not French”, a quote attributed to Napoleon, and whose party officially launched on Sunday was called “Reconquest!” », Made, more than an hour late, a triumphant entry to the sound of music with grandiloquent accents.

Jostling occurred in the huge hall of the Parc des Expositions de Villepinte (town located in a popular department north of Paris), upon the arrival of the candidate.

Prior to his entry, reporters from a television show known for its scathing and ironic tone had been booed and taken to safety for a moment.

An important security device was deployed around the place of the rally, and more than a hundred anti-Zemmour demonstrators, protesting against the candidate’s “racism, negationism, homophobia” were dispersed by the forces of the ‘order.

Earlier, a demonstration in Paris against the far-right candidate brought together 2,200 people, according to the police, 10,000 according to the organizers (around fifty unions, parties and associations).

“He has a love for France that I do not feel in other candidates,” says François, chief financial officer in a start-up. “He has strong convictions and is not formatted,” he adds, “not in the least shocked” by the court convictions of Mr. Zemmour for provoking racial and religious hatred.

The Villepinte rally is held five days after an announcement of the tumultuous candidacy of the former polemicist.

Jacqueline Mouraud, figure of the “yellow vests”, this popular revolt movement which shook the five-year term of Emmanuel Macron in 2018 and 2019, also came to support Zemmour on behalf of “ordinary people victims of globalization”.
