First gathering since the verdict | Trump rants against Biden and immigration

(Phoenix) Donald Trump reiterated his anti-immigration diatribes Thursday during his first campaign event since his criminal verdict, denouncing the “open borders policy” of his rival Joe Biden, despite the recent swing to the right of the Democratic president.

Joe Biden announced Tuesday that he would prevent migrants who entered the United States illegally from benefiting from the right to asylum when their number exceeds 2,500 per day for a week, which is currently the case.

“On the first day of my mandate, I will cancel the scandalous decree of “Joe the crook””, chanted Donald Trump in front of an enthusiastic crowd, believing that this text was “pro-invasion”, “pro-child trafficking » or even “pro-drug traffickers”.

Donald Trump spoke to a partisan crowd in Phoenix, Arizona, on Thursday.

“And I will put an end to all the open border policies of the Biden administration,” he lambasted, during a campaign event in Arizona, a key state in the southwest, bordering Mexico , through which a large proportion of migrants from different countries pass.

As the presidential election approaches, which will see Joe Biden and Donald Trump oppose each other, immigration has become a central subject of the campaign, with Republicans accusing the Democratic president of being responsible for an “invasion” at the border .

The Republican candidate promised retaliatory measures, such as imposing customs duties, on countries that do not stem the flow of migrants to the United States.

“We have great economic power,” proclaimed Donald Trump. “If China or another country behaves badly, we have what we call customs duties which are very harmful.”

It was the first campaign event for the ex-president since he was convicted at the end of May in a case of accounting falsifications for hidden payments to an adult film actress.

The text announced Tuesday by Joe Biden also facilitates expulsions to Mexico, with a few rare exceptions. And the restrictions put forward will remain in force until the number of illegal entries falls below 1,500 per day.

According to polls, the issue of immigration is one of the biggest electoral threats to the outgoing president.

In 2020, Joe Biden only won Arizona by 10,000 votes.
