It’s the big return of fireworks in Montreal for the summer, and the Jacques-Cartier bridge is pedestrianized for three hours on show nights, starting this Saturday, June 25.
Updated yesterday at 7:24 p.m.
Motorists will have to find another way than the Jacques-Cartier Bridge to enter or leave the island of Montreal on certain Saturday and Wednesday evenings in the summer due to the return of the fireworks.
Both lanes of the bridge will be closed to traffic, with the exception of a corridor for emergency vehicles, from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. those evenings. The access ramps will become inaccessible from 8 p.m.
Bicycles, scooters and other wheeled means of transport – with the exception of strollers and wheelchairs – will also be prohibited on the bridge. In other words, only pedestrians who have come to enjoy the show will be able to move around.
In addition, it will not be possible to smoke outside designated smoking areas, specifies in a press release the company Ponts Jacques-Cartier and Champlain.
The public will be able to admire the fireworks after a drone show scheduled for 9:45 p.m.
