During last night, around 3:45 a.m., police officers from the night teams present in the Montpellier police station heard cascading detonations followed by flashes of light.

They found on the forecourt of the police station a box containing the remains of what had just exploded 280 interconnected fireworks mortars, directed towards the facade. The explosions apparently did no damage.
A vehicle that had stopped nearby was quickly located. When searching the car, they discovered an unused fireworks mortar as well as narcotics and a knife.
The four arrested men are in custody. It remains to know their motivations.
The ALLIANCE 34 union in a press release strongly condemns yet another attack on the police which could have had a completely different end if the fireworks had set fire to the building.
