The historic drought in France has consequences for many sectors of activity. The pyrotechnicians face cancellations because of the risk of fire which weighs on the hexagon.

Faced with dense, drought-dried vegetation, François Legras, mayor of Govtille-sur-Mer (Manche) and former pyrotechnician, made the decision to cancel the fireworks scheduled for August 15. “Given the wind, the slightest spark will be a start”, fears the aegis. A decision taken on the strong recommendations of the prefecture. He is therefore not the only one to have had to give up on a pyrotechnic enterprise.

A sector already strongly impacted by Covid restrictions and the cascading cancellations of many parties and fireworks. “We said to ourselves that this year, it was over and that we could party again”says Vincent Leperchoissecretary of the Pyrotechnics union which insists on the safety of these shows. “We fired a hundred fireworks with no more environmental igniting whether in the dunes or in the fields.” Fortunately for them, the vast majority of fireworks by the end of the month should be maintained.
