Tuesday, July 25, fires continue to rage in northeastern Algeria. Ten soldiers were burned alive. In all, there are already at least 34 victims.
Northeastern Algeria faces out-of-control fires on Tuesday (July 25th). Many tourists find themselves trapped on the beaches by the sea. A holidaymaker and father of a family is appealing for help on social networks. “We escaped from the residence. We managed to take refuge on a rock with my wife and my children. There is all the black smoke and the heat which comes on us”, he explains. He was eventually rescued.
Ten dead soldiers
Others weren’t so lucky. Surrounded by flames, ten soldiers were burned alive. Countless hectares have been destroyed and houses burnt down. “The fire started at 5 a.m., and here at 8 a.m. everything was already reduced to dust. Nothing remains”, testifies a devastated resident. The fires are devouring, in particular because of the heat wave which is raging in Algeria.
