In Fère-Champenoise (Marne), firefighters specializing in chemical and technological risks roamed the streets on Tuesday June 4. They are looking for what could explain the repeated poisonings which caused 64 victims. The first illnesses appeared on Thursday, May 30: 21 primary school students and one adult were rescued. The next day, 22 children presented similar disorders. The school is closed and the students change establishments, but 19 children and one adult present new symptoms.

These poisonings result in nausea, headaches, itching in the throat. Hospitalizations took place, but no life-threatening prognosis was incurred. The discomfort occurred on the journey from schools to the canteen. Research is focused on this restricted area. Firefighters indicate that the air in the town is not polluted. Initially, carbon monoxide poisoning was considered, but the option is no longer favored.
