A wildfire broke out in the early afternoon in the town of Serdinya, in Conflent, in the Pyrénées-Orientales. The fire started on the edge of the RN 116 vert 2:30 p.m. The flames then quickly progressed: 30 hectares of vegetation have already burned, according to the firefighters of the Pyrénées-Orientales, in the direction of the hamlet of Roquefumade.
Despite large resources committed, the fire is, at this stage, not under control. 155 firefighters are mobilized, with air support, a Dash aircraft. But faced with the violence of the flames, two canadairs should come and lend a hand. The two planes took off from their base in the Gard a few minutes ago.
The National Road 116 is cut in both directions near Serdinya and Villefranche-de-Conflent. It is not known when the road will be able to reopen.
