The fire in the Diois massif to the northeast of the village of Romeyer in Drôme and still not fixed this Saturday, August 6 at 4:30 p.m. A new outbreak of fire is underway on a part of the mountain hitherto under the control of firefighters.
The 90 firefighters on site have to deal with a strong and unexpected north wind fanning the flames. Three canadairs are arriving on site to drop water on this area inaccessible to firefighters’ vehicles.
Since the beginning of the afternoon, there was only one water bomber helicopter on site – that of the Drôme – against three this morning. His intervention nevertheless made it possible toprevent the fire from spreading too quickly. Firefighters are assessing the new extent of burned areas. The latest report at noon reported 25 hectares already gone up in smoke.
No homes are threatened by the flames.
