A major fire broke out on Monday January 16, 2023 at the premises of Bolloré Logistics in Grand-Couronne, boulevard de l’île aux Oiseaux. According to Seine-Maritime firefighters, the incident was due to a lithium battery fire in a cell of a building of approximately 20,000 m2. An explosion inside the building occurred as well as a significant release of smoke. The plume is visible for miles around.
All company buildings were evacuated. According to the prefecture of Seine-Maritime, the site is not classified Seveso.
A hundred firefighters and fifty machines are mobilized. There are no known casualties at this time. The population is asked to facilitate access to emergency services on site.
