In Gironde, the fire which ravaged 3,400 hectares is now fixed, Friday September 16. Vigilance remains in order, but the evacuated inhabitants will be able to find their homes, and finally resume a normal life. Report in the village of Sainte-Hélène.

On the morning of Friday, September 16, the forest rises slowly, to the sound of smoke that still makes it crackle. Next door, the village of Sainte-Hélène (Gironde) also wakes up, relieved. Indeed, the fire that hit the Gironde is now fixed. “Last night, we slept better, because the nights before, of course, there was worry”explains Patrick Desroches-Bouhand, resident from town. The man found his house on Thursday evening, and regains a taste for the carelessness of before.

Being light-hearted isn’t easy when you’re five. The return to school on Friday morning makes it possible to think of something else. In the Sainte-Hélène school, a listening unit with two school psychologists has been set up to allow children and parents to express themselves. In the town, no house was affected, but this fire will leave traces, images engraved forever in the memories.
