Fire in front of the synagogue in La Grande-Motte: anti-terrorism prosecutor notified

A man tried to set fire to a synagogue on Saturday, August 24, in which five people were gathered. A municipal police officer was injured. The authorities denounced an anti-Semitic act.

Shortly after 8 a.m., several fires broke out. According to the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office, two vehicles were “set on fire in the Beth Yaacov synagogue”A gas bottle that happened to be there exploded.

Inside the synagogue, five people including the rabbi were present but were unharmed. A municipal police officer was injured outside by the explosion. A suspect was spotted on video surveillance wearing a keffiyeh, a Palestinian flag and on his belt, apparentlyt, a handgun. He also carried two bottles filled with what appeared to be a flammable liquid. The National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office was seized. The investigation was opened for murder and criminal association.
