Fire in California: an uncontrollable situation

The images are impressive and bear witness to the violence and power of the flames ravaging California (United States). In a snap of the fingers, 10 houses perished in the fire. Despite a fierce fight by the firefighters, the fires continue to rage and are “uncontrollable” according to California authorities. 14,000 hectares have already been devastated in just 36 hours. The movement and speed of the flames make us fear the worst.

The fires have already reached homes and some roads are closed because of the flames. So far, 6,000 Californians have been evacuated. “I have a lot of memories at home, my family grew up there, my children. It’s just sad”, explains a victim. Electricity is also cut. The smoke created a sort of tornado which greatly hinders the work of the firefighters who are currently 500 fighting the flames. A state of emergency has been declared and the fire is not expected to be contained for at least a week.
