Fire in an apartment in Pierrefontaine-les-Varans, in the Doubs, the tenant died

The fire broke out in one of the apartments of a house divided into five in Pierrefontaine-les-Varans. The tenant of the accommodation, a 60-year-old man who was unconscious when firefighters arrived just before 3 a.m. on Saturday February 19, was pronounced dead less than an hour later.

The Doubs firefighters intervened just before 3 a.m. on a fire in Pierrefontaine-les-Varans (Doubs), between Baumes-les-Dames and Morteau. The fire broke out in an apartment located in a 1000 m² house, located at 3 Grande rue, divided into five dwellings. When they arrived, paramedics found an unconscious man at the scene.

Unconscious when help arrived, the 60-year-old tenant died

It was the tenant. Aged 60, he was pronounced dead less than an hour later. Residents of adjoining apartments, five adults and two children had to be evacuated. They are not injured. All were brought to safety at the town hall. Firefighters are still on site and are trying to control the blaze with five nozzles. The risk of spread has not yet been ruled out.
