A residential building in Longueuil was engulfed in flames on Sunday evening, injuring at least two people.
A fire broke out around 4:04 p.m. in a three-storey residential building located at 2289 rue Daniel, in Longueuil. The fire started on the first floor, according to the Longueuil Fire Department.
Firefighters were able to rescue a woman in her 40s and a child, aged three, both trapped on a first-floor balcony. “The woman suffered 1st and 2nd degree burns on 25% of her body and she is being treated for smoke inhalation,” said fire department spokesperson Alain Lessard.
As for the child, he too was transported to the hospital where he is being treated for smoke inhalation.
The woman and child were both conscious when they were brought to the hospital.
For the moment, there are no other injuries and “the fire is under control”, according to Mr. Lessard.
