Fire! Chatterton, Izia, Aloïse Sauvage… the Vieilles Charrues festival celebrates its 30th anniversary in preview at the Bon Marché with pop and joyful events

We are not every day 30 years old and even less 170 years old! In 2022, however, the Vieilles Charrues festival and the Bon Marché Rive Gauche are preparing to blow out 200 candles between them. The opportunity to dare to mix genres and celebrate with music.

To celebrate this double anniversary, a series of pop and joyful events and experiences are scheduled on the shelves and in the windows of the Parisian department store.

From May 3 and throughout the spring, the Parisian department store on the left bank will be transformed into a somewhat scoundrel musical scene. Every Tuesday evening, for seven weeks, once its doors are closed, Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche and its customers will be able to preview performances by folk, rock, reggae or rap artists, with singular poetry or psychedelic accents. .

It is the singer Aloïse Sauvage who opens the ball of the nocturnal festivities, on May 3. Will follow Lulu Van Trapp, Fire! Chatterton, Lujipeka, Matmatah, Izïa and Catastrophe will close the party on June 14. All these concerts are free but it is essential to register in advance.

In addition to the evening concerts, the whole life of the store is set to the time of the Vieilles Charrues. From morning to evening, two giant screens suspended on either side of the central escalator will broadcast a retrospective film directed and commented by the essential Willy Papa (Daily) as well as legendary images and excerpts from the best concerts for 30 years.

A larger than life experience, since real plots of dried grass will be planted over hundreds of meters throughout the store, even in the windows, in a nod to the open-air atmosphere of the festival.

Eighty helmets will be available to customers along the passageways, for complete immersion and an even more sensory experience. The opportunity to hear again beautiful archives and relive cult moments that make the legend of the festival.

Rue de Sèvres, eight of the windows will each be invested by an artist or a group scheduled for the 2022 edition of the Vieilles Charrues and will be transformed into musical works of art, sold at auction (online) at the end of the exhibition by Art curial.

All revenue from the exhibition will be donated in full to the “Petits Princes” association, created in 1987 to make the dreams of seriously ill children and adolescents come true. Specially created for the occasion, the logo will illuminate the entrances to the store with its tangy notes.

The Vieilles Charrues festival is held in Carhaix from July 14 to 17, 2022
