Heritage Montreal will continue its activities, despite the major fire that damaged its offices and archives located in the Bon-Pasteur monastery.
Last week, the Bon-Pasteur Monastery, where the offices of Héritage Montréal had been located for more than 20 years, was ravaged by flames. The organization dedicated to the defense of heritage announced Wednesday that the fire has significantly affected its premises as well as its computer equipment and documents.
“Our archives center, an important and unique collection of documents on Montreal’s heritage and the actions to safeguard and enhance it, has also been significantly affected,” the organization said in a press release.
Despite the fire, Héritage Montréal’s activities continue. The In the heart of the metropolis guided tours will continue to be offered, as well as the next edition of ArchitecTours® which will take place this summer, offering Montrealers the opportunity to discover the architectural heritage.
In addition to the offices of Héritage Montréal, the heritage building houses a cooperative, housing for seniors, a concert hall, as well as other cultural organizations.
