(Montreal) The latest government proposals to the FIQ are nothing more than “smoke and mirrors,” the union organization believes. As a result, it will ask its members to refuse to work overtime starting September 19.
The union federation, which represents 80,000 nurses, nursing assistants, respiratory therapists and clinical perfusionists, is responding to the Treasury Board’s new proposal presented Thursday. The FIQ said at the time that it would take the time to analyze it before commenting on it.
The mobility required of nurses is still at the heart of the dispute. According to the FIQ, in its latest proposal, Quebec is demanding even more flexibility from its members. However, this is why the members rejected the agreement in principle reached with Quebec, by a margin of 61%.
In a press release issued on Friday, the Interprofessional Health Federation described this government proposal, submitted more than 500 days after the expiry of the collective agreements, as “smoke and mirrors” and “rehashing”.
In response, the FIQ will therefore ask its members to refuse to work overtime starting September 19.
