(Ottawa) Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Tuesday a $300 million fund for people struggling to recover from the effects of the post-tropical storm. Fionalike residents of the Îles-de-la-Madeleine.

“This funding will support repair and reconstruction projects related to storm damage to critical infrastructure […]will help clean fishing gear […] and will help businesses and communities recover,” he said at a press briefing in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
Trudeau said the fund would be administered by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions, in collaboration with other departments.
The Prime Minister assured that his government would ensure that the money is available quickly.
Fionawith its winds of over 120 km/h, caused damage to roads, roofs and banks, in addition to flooding buildings.
It caused losses in its wake in the Îles-de-la-Madeleine, in eastern Quebec, but also particularly hit Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia.
The Canadian military has been deployed indefinitely to the three affected provinces in Atlantic Canada to assist with cleanup efforts.
