France, defending champion of the last Fed Cup, faces Canada on Monday November 1 at 10:30 am at the O2 Arena in Prague to open the 58th edition of the competition, renamed Billie Jean King Cup and whose format changes to be held over a week. If Kristina Mladenovic is forfeited, the captain of the Bleues Julien Benneteau has in his ranks strong elements like Caroline Garcia (59th world), or Alizé Cornet (64th world). The Canadians, meanwhile, are deprived of Leylah Fernandez (US Open finalist) and Bianca Andreescu (24th world).
On the program, two singles (in three sets maximum, with tie-break) followed by a double (in three sets maximum, the third being a super ten-point tie-break). The French will challenge Russia on Wednesday November 3 for the rest of the competition.
