Finland announces that it wants to join NATO soon. In Europe, a new gas pipeline will see the light of day on the border between Poland and Lithuania.

Finland hopes for early NATO membership. It currently hosts several countries of the North Atlantic alliance as part of joint military exercises. A taste of what Finnish leaders want. Prime Minister Sanna Marin believes that “the key issue is to have the shortest possible ratification process”. She wants a “quick response”.

After two years of work, a new gas pipeline will be inaugurated on the border between Poland and Lithuania. This infrastructure, 508 kilometers long, will supply natural gas to these two countries. For example, it will supply 10% of Warsaw’s annual demand. This project is defended by the European Union in particular in order to drastically reduce Russian gas exports.

In Northern Ireland, elections must decide between two parties with very different visions. The unionists want the province to remain within the United Kingdom. Facing them, the nationalists of Sinn Féin, favorites of the ballot, advocate the reunification of the two Ireland. The British will also vote for these elections. In the event of an unfavorable result, the future of Boris Johnson, British Prime Minister, could be called into question.
