Finland | Heatwave hits Helsinki, which faces severe drought

Residents of Helsinki are facing sweltering temperatures, with the Finnish capital hitting 27 degrees Celsius on June 15, as the southern Nordic country faces an unusually dry month, with some areas seeing less than half the usual rainfall.

The heatwave comes as average temperatures around the world in early June were the hottest on record by the European Union’s climate monitoring unit for the period, and are expected to rise further in Helsinki in the coming days.
