Like every evening, 11 p.m. takes a tour of the news broadcast by European television channels. It’s Eurozapping on Tuesday July 5th.

Very attached to their neutrality a few months ago, Finland and Sweden signed their entry into NATO. “It’s a historic day”, welcomed Jens Stoltenberg, secretary general of the organization. Motivated by the fear towards Russia, this adhesion was carried out via an express procedure. It still needs to be ratified by the parliaments of NATO member countries. The only doubt concerns Turkey, which demands the extradition of several Kurdish activists in exchange for its support.

In Spain, the strengthening of the military budget by the government is controversial. This has indeed granted the army an extension of one billion euros without going through the vote of parliament. This while the left of the government coalition demanded above all measures against inflation. Criticism towards the measure, Podemos does not however intend to leave the government.

For its part, Russia is preparing to switch to a war economy. Two laws passed at first reading will make it possible to put industries at the disposal of the army, with the possible requisition of employees. These laws should stem the shortage of weapons in Ukraine.
