The associations for the defense of motorists are mobilizing again, pointing out the fact that 58% recorded speeding offenses only sanction overruns of less than 5 km/h. They demand adjustments.

No need to press the mushroom, because the slightest excess of the authorized speed is enough to be flashed. This is called a micro-speeding. Example : you are driving at 59 km/h in a zone limited to 50. A margin of 5 km/h is tolerated, and the chosen speed therefore falls to 54 km/h. You thus fall under the scope of a fine which costs between 68 and 135 euros. A point is also deducted from your driver’s license.

Losing so much for such a low overtaking inevitably makes motorists cry foul. In 2010, there were 4.7 million fines for micro-speeding. In 2020, itwas 7.3 million, a third more. A windfall for the state: these small speeding offenses brought him 400 million euros in 2020. Some associations of motorists denounce the inflexibility of the authorities, and demand the abolition of these fines, as well as the point lost.
