Aged 28, Léon Deffontaines is the head of the list who will represent the French Communist Party (PCF) in the next European elections in June. “Being a young communist in France means wanting to put work back at the heart of our project”, he begins. He then sets out the challenges facing the left, such as the social and environmental aspects and even job creation.

When François Hollande came to power in 2012, Léon Deffontaines revealed himself to be disappointed with the left of the former President of the Republic. It was this disappointment that pushed him to get involved in politics. “Finding an authentic, popular left that puts work at the heart of its project is what pushed me to get involved in politics”underlines the head of the list of the French Communist Party in the European Elections.
