Find out which Mancho skippers to follow during the Drheam Cup

They are fifteen engaged under the Manchoise banner. Fifteen skippers from the Channel take the start of the Drheam Cup this Sunday, July 17. An offshore sailing race from Cherbourg-en-Cotentin to La Trinité-sur-Mer, in Morbihan, which for this fourth edition brings together 118 boats in ten different categories.

Nine Manchois ranked in IRC

Most of the Manchois entered are in the IRC category, which includes the most boats. For them, no solo race, but a double-handed or crewed competition on the course of 1,000 nautical miles.

They are three to start at the head of a crew:

  • Emmanuel Bunel, originally from Cherbourg, on the Cherbourg Sailing Team
  • Manuel Da Rocha, from Cherbourg, on the Endless Summer
  • Guillaume Ferey, from Barneville-Carteret, on the Izipizi

Edouard Pinta, from Barneville-Carteret, registered on the Shahultimately does not take the start.

Six skippers prefer to share the adventure double-handed:

  • Olivier Bahon, from Granville, on the Cavok 4
  • Louis-Marie Dussère, from Cherbourg, on the Raging-bee²
  • Maxime Mesnil, from Cherbourg, on the Axesail-Issartel-Sarbacane
  • Pascal Tuffier, from Cherbourg, on the Tuff…Tuff…Tuff…
  • Olivier Nemsguern, from Cherbourg, on Elora
  • Hervé Jacqueline, from Barneville-Carteret, on Polperro II

Martin Louchart and Marc Lepesqueux, two Granville residents in Class 40

Martin Louchart and Marc Lepesqueux both take the start alone, aboard a Class 40, boats 12 meters long and 5 meters wide. It’s their first participation in the Drheam Cup. At 20, the native of Saint-Pair-sur-Mer Martin Louchart is on board his own boat, the Randstad-Ausy.

Marc Lepesqueux, also from Saint-Pair-sur-Mer, takes to the open sea aboard the Sensation Class 40.

Granvillais Brieuc Maisonneuve aboard a Multi Rum

Brieuc Maisonneuve is one of four skippers on a Rhum Multi. The 47-year-old Granvillais is on board the multihull 60,000 bounceswith the aim of qualifying for the Route du Rhum next November.

Louis Duc, the only Imoca in the race

The Cherbourgeois Louis Duc is the only boat in his category on the Drheam Cup. He sets off aboard the Fives-Lantana-Environment, an Imoca, a monohull capable of circumnavigating the globe. Moreover, his objective, in addition to qualifying for the Route du Rhum, is to prepare for the Vendée Globe 2024.

Clara Fortin, the only sailor from Manche, crew on a Multi 2000

Clara Fortin is the only sailor from La Manche to take the start of the Drheam Cup. Usually on Martin Louchart’s Class 40, with whom she is associated, this time she is a crew member aboard the Citoyendumonde.org, the catamaran from Caennais Jean-François Lilti. The crew is racing in the Multi 2000 category, on the shortest course, that of 600 nautical miles.

Charlotte Yven, a half-Cherbourgeoise from Brittany, on a Figaro 3

Let’s stop the quarrels with Brittany to also encourage Charlotte Yven, originally from Morlaix but who has half of her family in Cherbourg. She embarked for 600 nautical miles, aboard the Team Vendée Formation – Boot Foundationsa Figaro 3.
